If you think about the footring compared to the StepUp there can be positives for both.

The StepUp is really the more ergonomic solution placing the feet firmly in front of the user and offering alternating positions throughout the day. Really, the only drawback to the StepUp is the increased footprint of the chair. If there is plenty of room in a work place this is a great option.

The footring is ideal for users that may be working at higher levels for long periods of time or users that may be leaning forward frequently (drafting applications and many healthcare applications).

I am an architect that has used the Capisco with both the footring and the Step-up. I personally like the Step-up better. It's a nice feature being able to kick it out of the way if I want to, and it is much easier to put on and take off the chair.

However, unlike the footring, you cannot adjust the Step-up's height. But once you adjust your seat height to where it is best in relation to your desk/work surface you shouldn't need to adjust the Step-up height anyway.

I think I remember hearing that the footring is only offered as an option in North America. The Step-up is the only footresting option offered in other countries. Apparently, Westerners are more used to using the footring as a footrest.

I am intrigued by this apparatus. I have always used a footring but I like the idea of just pushing this step up out of the way when i don't need it (I can't do that with my footring). Does anyone have comments about this? I want to know if there are any drawbacks anyone can comment about before I switch my footring for one of these.

Thank you for any comments.

P.S. - I love this site and HAG Chairs
